Access International Pharmacies to Save Money

You already know that your Health Access Benefit can save you money on your everyday health care costs. But what about your prescription drug costs?

Good news! With your Health Access Benefit, you have access to the lowest cost drugs in the world, which may save you even more money than buying the same drug with insurance. Here’s how.

Your prescriptions are filled through Drexi, a pharmacy benefit manager with over 65,000 locations. Access to Drexi is included in your Health Access Benefit at no additional cost to you. These are the steps to fill any prescription:

  1. Get a prescription from a physician.
  2. Search for the prescription online using Drexi’s list of all local and mail-order pharmacies to view all the options and prices.
  3. Choose the best option for your needs and budget.
  4. Pick up the prescription at the pharmacy you chose or, if you selected mail-order, have it mailed to your front door.

Accessing International Pharmacies

Depending on your medication, you may save up to 70% by ordering it from an international pharmacy! Your prescription service through Drexi includes access to international pharmacies that can mail your prescriptions directly to your house. In fact, over 250 medications are currently available from pharmacies in places like New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and England.

Here’s how you can find out if your medication is less expensive from an international pharmacy:

  1. Get a prescription from a physician.
  2. Search for the prescription online using Drexi.
  3. Select “mail order” pharmacies. (Note: Not all mail-order pharmacies are international, but all international pharmacies are mail-order)
  4. Choose the best option for your needs and budget.
  5. Watch your mail for your prescription delivery!

Common Questions About International Pharmacies

Q: Will my prescription from an international pharmacy be exactly the same as one from a local pharmacy?

A: Yes, it has to be exactly the same to be included in Drexi’s listings.

Q: How long will it take to fill my prescription from an international pharmacy?

A: Your prescription will arrive 10-15 business days after the order has shipped. For this reason, it is best to make sure you have a 30-day supply of your medication on hand before placing your first order with an international pharmacy.

Q: Can I use HSA or FSA funds to pay for my prescriptions?

A: You may be able to use HSA or FSA funds to reimburse yourself for the cost of prescriptions ordered from domestic pharmacies through Drexi. However, you cannot use HSA funds to reimburse yourself for the cost of prescriptions ordered from international pharmacies at this time.

Q: How can I access my prescription card?

A: Your prescription card can be sent directly to your smartphone when you text "prescription" to (239) 299-0333. Your prescription card can also be emailed to you when you email memberdetails@healthaccesssolutions.com.
