When it comes to keeping your smile healthy, your Health Access Cooperative Dental membership—also called Co-op Dental—offers something better than traditional dental insurance. It’s simpler, more affordable, and puts you in control.
Unlike insurance companies, Co-op Dental is a consumer cooperative, owned and operated by members just like you. That means no confusing terms, no restrictive networks, and no costly, profit-driven surprises. Just quality dental care when you need it.
Why Co-op Dental is Better Than Traditional Insurance
If you’ve ever been frustrated by traditional dental insurance, you’re not alone. Co-op Dental is designed to eliminate those headaches. Here's how:
- No Networks, No Restrictions — You’re free to visit any dentist or specialist you choose. We believe your dental provider should be your decision, not an insurance company’s.
- Simple Coverage — Co-op Dental covers 100% of your preventive care and 95% of other services, including orthodontics, up to your annual allowance.
- No Lifetime Maximums — Your allowance renews every year, even for orthodontic work, so you can plan for care without worrying about long-term limits.
- More Affordable — Because we don’t operate for profit, we can keep your membership more affordable than traditional dental insurance.
Membership Options
You’ll have one of two straightforward plans:
- $1,500 annual allowance
- $2,500 annual allowance, which also includes up to $200 for vision hardware like glasses or contacts
The annual allowance is the total amount the Co-op will pay for your dental care each year, and it resets every year. If you anticipate needing more extensive dental work, you can even plan to spread treatment over two years to make the most of your allowance.
How to Use Your Dental Membership
Using your Co-op Dental membership is simple:
- Tell your provider up front that you’re self-pay. You won’t need a card because Co-op Dental is not insurance.
- Ask for discounts! Many providers offer discounts for paying directly, especially if you pay at the time of service. Asking for these discounts can help stretch your annual allowance farther.
- After your appointment, just upload your bill to the member dashboard. We’ll reimburse you directly, or we can pay your provider for you—whatever works best.
Note: If your dentist requests payment up front, contact our Member Support team. We’ll coordinate with the provider on your behalf to make the process easy.
Your Co-op Dental membership covers a wide range of care, but there are a few exceptions. Cosmetic procedures and dental medications used during non-surgical care are not eligible for reimbursement. For a full list of what’s covered, just check your membership dashboard or contact our support team.
Smile-Worthy Simplicity
With Co-op Dental, you get access to the preventive and non-preventive dental care you need without the complexity of traditional dental insurance. Your membership is flexible, easy to use, and designed to save you money.
Now that’s something to smile about.
