Per doctor’s orders, one of our members needed to have a CT scan. He wanted to use the MRI services located just down the street from his doctor’s office since they were nearby and familiar. However, they quoted him over $700! Another nearby service which advertised as being cheaper still quoted him $525.
His primary care provider knew that this member needed a quality CT scan at an affordable price, so they worked with the member to find a better, faster, cheaper solution.
They searched his area in Cleveland, Ohio, and found a great option, but it was a 40-minute drive from his home. He was reluctant to make the drive, but trusted our recommendation and valued the significant cost savings.
At his appointment, he told the receptionist that he was a cash-pay patient and asked for additional ways to gain further discounts. The provider explained that the price would be lower if he paid with cash instead of a debit card. He ended up having a CT scan in an excellent facility for only $165 — that’s a savings of $535!
